Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Pretty Paper Girls}

July 4, 2011

I had some fun with paint and paper last week…this weekend I finally put some of the finishing touches on the two canvases. I really love combining pattern papers, inks, paint, and lines. This time around, I added a few 3-D butterflies to give a different effect. The blonde girl also has some pretty Stickles in her hair. I would love to make a journal using all different faces, and dresses. I think these are as much fun as playing with paper dolls! :)

Hope you enjoyed your 4th of July weekend! It sure was a HOT one here in Michigan!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    They are so pretty and so unique…and yes, much like having fun with paper dolls. I spent hours and hours with those as a little girl! Even made my own!

    Oh; these take me to the She Art Workshop days – I miss them! I adore what you’ve done, here, Nancy! Your gals are dressed so beautifully and I love the backgrounds and dimensions! Beauteous!

    It is very warm, here, and going to get warmer and muggier each day – blah! Cool thoughts your way! xxoo

    I was admiring your butterflies, and thinking how creative your little girls’ faces are!
    This does look like as much fun as we had with paper dolls as kids.

    Still rather hot here in WI but not going to complain. We need to make the most of these short summer days.

    Your paper girls are too cute! And it’s very hot, here, too–102 degrees today–not too happy about that, but thank goodness for air conditioning!!!!!

    Hope you don’t mind if I “copy” your girls…I love how you used text to create them! But then, I love everything you do:)
