Autumn Sunshine & Winter Sparkles

I’m posting this on a gorgeous fall day here in Michigan. The sun and colors are amazing today and my maple tree is glorious. It hardly feels like Christmas could be around the corner. These are just a few pieces to share with you today. My creativity is still going in spurts because of my hip/leg, however the past week with physical therapy has really paid off.

I (knock on wood) actually am starting to feel like myself again. My big accomplishment yesterday was going up and down a flight of stairs. Something so simple – yet so painful the past few months. Taking each day a day at a time – but grateful for my PT team Kay and Heidi. Yeah! They are making this old woman feel like a new lady again.

Holiday Cheer Gift Card Pockets

These cheerful pockets will brighten the spirits of those that receive them. Place gift cards inside for a more personal gift. There are many Paper Whimsy faces to select from in the shop to create this project. When the gift card is removed, they have a darling ornament for the tree.

Supplies:
Backgrounds 02 PNG
Yuletide Sentiments Digi Sheet 281
Tags – Digi Sheet 091
Digi Sheet – 234
Digi Sheet – 136
Old Book 07 PNG

Technique:
(1) Print out Background script in Microsoft Word. I placed 4 of the PNG images side by side at 3 x 5 sizes. Print and cut out. Distress edges with ink (machine stitching optional). Match front and backs (text on both sides) and run double-sided tape along the edges and bottom. Do not add double-sided tape to top – this is where you will insert your gift card.
(2) Print out Old Book 07 and Digi Tags 091. Cut a little off tag and tuck into top of pocket. Add book to front of pocket.
(3) Add beautiful face to front of pocket. Wrap doily around. Add Yuletide sentiment to front.
(4) Tie bow around bottom of gift card pocket.
(5) Add gift card.

{First Day of Whimsy – Button Faeries}

Button Faeries

These little Button Faeries are perfect bits of whimsy to add on the Christmas tree, packages and gift bags, garland, or let them take center stage on a card.

Supplies:
Beautiful Face Digi 091
Beautiful Face Digi 170
Beautiful Face Digi 294
Butterflies – Digi 267
Silver or White Doilies
Mica Flakes
Assorted Buttons
Light gauge wire
Crystal Sticker Bling
White Prima flowers
E6000 Glue or craft glue
Distress ink (Ranger Vintage Photo)
*Optional – book clips or small clamps

Technique:

(1) Print and cut out wings for Butterflies – Digi 267. Distress edges with ink.

(2) Select Paper Whimsy Beautiful faces and cut out. I looked for images that were looking straight into the camera and had a little bit of shoulder.

(3) Select buttons (about 4-5) that vary in size. The largest buttons will go towards the top of the body and the smaller will be the ends of the body.

(4) Using a thinner gauge wire, string buttons from smallest (bottom) to largest (top). Run the wire through the holes of each button. If you are using a button with 4 holes select 2 holes to run the wire through.

(5) When you are at the top of your wire button strand, add a prima flower behind the last button that you string. Set strand aside.

(6) Center your Paper Whimsy Beautiful face on to one butterfly wing with a little E6000 or other craft glue.

(7) Grab the button strand and place a little dab of glue behind the prima flower, and set into center of lower body. You may need to add a small book clip or clamp while glue sets up.

(8) Fold a small doily in 1/2 to form the back wing. Center on the back of the butterfly wing and glue in place. Again, you may need to add clamps while this sets up.

(9) Add small crystal sticker bling to the wing area. Dust wings with a little dab of craft glue and mica chips.

(10) Add thin wire to the back of the doily for hanging purposes.

Now you have a sweet little button faerie perfect for the holiday season!
