{12th Day of Whimsy – Festive Holly Bunting}

12th Day of Whimsy – Festive Holly Bunting

Oh by gosh by golly…it’s the 12th Day with holly…
This bunting was made with studio cloth (if you haven’t tried it – you simply must), Festive Holiday Digi Sheets, and a sweet beautiful face. The creative combinations for this project are endless…as are the lovely faces you could add. This project is perfect to do with a little or old friend, niece or nephew, and will be cherished for years to come.

Supplies:
Studio Cloth
Digi Sheet – 285
Digi Sheet – 284
Beautiful Face Digi Sheet – 232
Dimensional Glue Dots
White Mini Pom Trim
Mica Chips
Silver Glass Glitter
Lace
Distress Ink
Alene’s Tacky Glue
Eyelets and Eyelet Setter
Matte Gel Medium

Technique:

(1) I cut three 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ backgrounds from the amazing Studio Cloth. What’s so fantastic about Studio Cloth is that it does not curl or roll when you cut and paint it.

(2) Once the base paint dried, I used a darker shade of brown to added the weathered look. Simply tear off a small piece of plastic wrap and wad it up so it has crinkles. Blot the plastic wrap in the dark brown paint and dab on to the canvas pieces. You can set little eyelets into each corner on your bunting pieces or sew a small hem along the top.

(3) Cut the Digi 285 letters out and distress edges with ink.

(4) Cut out Digi Sheet 284 and distress edges with ink.

(5) Using Alene’s Tacky Glue and a tooth pick, draw thin lines of glue around edge of banner piece. Sprinkle with silver glass glitter along the edges. Allow time to dry and set up and tap off access.

(6) Glue a letter to the center of each bunting shape, or use Dimensional Glue Dots for a 3-D effect. Glue pennant shapes to inside of canvas. I used a tacky fabric glue to do this, set wax paper over the pieces and placed heavy books on top. Allow time to dry, and your bunting will be nice and flat.

(7) Cut out a Beautiful face and add to bunting pieces using matte gel. Once dry, use glue and Glass glitter technique (mentioned above) along the edges.

(8) Glue lace to the bottom of each bunting piece using tacky glue or E6000. Add white pom pom trim by gluing over the lace edge. Glue buttons over the pom pom trim.

(9) Set silver eyelets in the upper corner of each bunting piece. Glue holly berries randomly on bunting.

(10) String bunting pieces on ribbon.

(11) Add crystal sticker bling to each letter and red crystal glitter bling to holly berries.
