Today, I completed a mixed media canvas I had been working on for a few days. It gave me great pleasure to incorporate some sewing into the piece as well. The little dress, was made from Vintage fabric that was sent to me from an art friend last summer…Stephanie aka “Queen of Dreamz” and her blog is here: queenofdreamsz.blogspot.com
I selected a 12 x 12 canvas as the background. The paper is old sheet music, which was lightly washed with bisque color craft paint. I then added little bits of lace using matte gel medium. I also printed some favorite lyrics (Enya) on paper and added with matte gel medium to the side.
The dress really makes my heart happy! I love the vintage fabric so much with the beautiful shades of blue and cream. There are little bits of antique lace sewn to the front, and a bit of seam binding with roses. On the bottom, more layers of lace and hand sewn buttons. I glued everything to the 12 x 12 canvas, and added a dusting of mica chips. I hope you like it too! :-)
Nancy I am in love with this. Is matte gel medium in with craft paints? I’ve never heard of it. This piece is beyond gorgeous!
