I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums: pattern papers, rubber stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, and altered items. A never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio making art and listening to music.
I started creating in mixed media in the spring of 2006, and was instantly intrigued. I consider myself an “old soul” and many of my pieces use remnants from the past…antique lace, old cabinet photos, metal findings, buttons, and whatever tugs at my heartstrings while creating. I definitely was born in the wrong era…although I wouldn’t give up my pair of blue jeans or computer for the world!
Sugar Lump Studios was born in November 2007 while I was grieving after losing my Dad, and my son Andrew was away fighting a war in Iraq. The name “Sugar Lump” was a pet name that was given by my Mom when my boy’s were young. My three children (Ian,Andrew and Allison) are my greatest success in life…next to that my art.
I started submitting to magazines and was thrilled to start down the path of becoming a published artist. I have found that creating art heals the soul and touches the lives of people who it surrounds. I have been blessed profusely by so many since I spread my wings and took this creative road.
Please enjoy your visit here and take the time to look through the galleries and publication. I hope you find some eye candy that will make your own soul happy as it did mine while creating it.
