Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Altered Bird Gothic Shrine}

November 21, 2009

The challenge at Gothic Arches until December 6th is to create a shrine using a gothic arch in the assemblage of it. I made this little shrine using the bottom of a cigar box which was painted for a shabby look. The background has an ephemera print of vintage eggs. My arch uses an image from Lisa’s Altered Art. Torn book text strips and a egg were added to the bottom of the box. The sides have been decorated with ribbon and vintage buttons.

Can’t wait to see what everyone creates during this two week challenge!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Fantastic. I just love it. Eggs are just so special, so delicate yet the promise of so much life. The egg on the bottom just depicts this so well.
