Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Altered Book – Fairy Style}

February 24, 2009

I have wanted to try my hand at altering books for quite some time now, and my son Andrew gave me this book as a birthday gift a few weeks ago “Altered Books Workshop” by Bev Brazelton. I love it! The book features great hands on step-by-step instructions and variations to get a beginner started. I did use a book that was far too old, and had some problems with the binding. I decided on the theme “Fairies” and here are a few pages from my latest creation:

Images are from various sources: Collage Visions, vintage photos, and Lisa’s Altered Art.

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Dear Nancy, After finding your blog I have been playing a little myself and have not quiet crossed over from scrapping to altered yet. I'm working on it as you are my inspiration. I'm learning the difference a little at a time. This book is just beautiful.
