Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Altered Silver Snowflakes}

November 28, 2010

I had a bit of fun this afternoon making these silver snowflakes (and several other projects and Christmas gifts) while cooking up a batch of homemade turkey soup. I do love the leftovers from Thanksgiving! :)

I attached book text that was cut into circles, and then deckle edged with my craft scissors. Several different Paper Whimsy images were also cut and adhered on to the text circles. Cardboard circles were added to the back of the text and hot glued on to the flake. Bits of silver tinsel were hot glued along the edges of each photo. A wee sheer ribbon was added to the bottom. I love how they look so vintage and old! :)

    Hi Nancy,

    These snowflakes are adorable…but everything you create is! ♥ May I ask what kind of snowflakes you've used? Are they plastic or paper?

    I only decorate my small 4 foot white tree so my ornaments have to be tiny…My little pink tree lights burnt out! boohoo…I'll never find a strand of pink wired lights..LOL

    That turkey soup sounds grand.

    Thanks so much for visiting me.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Stephanie ♥

    These are absolutely beautiful!! I keep saying I'm going to limit what I will make before Christmas arrives – then I see posts like this & I want to try to make some of your snowflakes!
    Oh, well, maybe I'll win the lottery I don't play & will have more time with which to create …
