{Altered Vintage Halloween Cards}

October 6, 2007

Happy World Cardmaking Day! :)I have composed a tutorial on how to make Altered Halloween cards using rubber stamps, pattern papers, vintage images and ephemera. There will also be a RAK for those that post their cards in the Two Peas gallery.

You may download the tutorial in a pdf file here:

Altered Vintage Halloween Cards Tutorial

Supply list:

Cardstock, pattern papers, ink, craft paint,
Halloween or other rubber stamps, vintage images,
wings, ephemera, prima flowers, letter or monogram
stickers, mini brads.

A supply of pattern papers. Large scraps are fine
(and an excellent way to use them up).I selected
Halloween colors but
as you can see not all the
pattern papers have Halloween Designs.

You will need various ephemera:

Vintage photos and wings, monogram or lettering
stickers, paper punchies, mini brads, prima
flowers, anything that you want as “extras.”

Halloween stamps:

I selected
justjohanna Webby border, gate, witches hat,
skeleton, boo and Happy Halloween sentiments. I
also used Michele’s Large scroll. You do not need
to have Halloween stamps to make these cards. Use
your imagination from your own stamp stash.

Use your favorite stamping ink. I love Versafine
and selected to use black because of Halloween, but
other colors are fine. I also used white paint for
the “grunge” effect on one of the cards but
white
ink will also do.
Your favorite paper cutter, detail scissors, glue
and adhesives.

card1

#1 – Cut cardstock for card 3 inches x 4 1/2 inches.
Layer pattern papers. The strips may be torn for
more dimension.

card2

#2 – Stamp a wide border (I used the justjohanna webby
border) along the top. I used black versafine ink,
You could use embossing ink
and powders for extra dimension.

 card3

#3 – Add wings and vintage image to the center of the
card.

 card4

#4 -Now you may adhere various ephemera and accents to
the vintage image creating your collage effect. A
stamped sentiment, computer sentiment or word
sticker sentiment may be added to the bottom.

card5

#5 – Using a circle cookie cutter, stamp or cap from the
craft paint bottle add white paint marks. You may
also use stamping ink if you wish.

 card6

#6 – Add ink around edges of card.

card7

#7 -Add under layer of cardstock to card ( 3 x 5 inches)

card8

#8 – Add 4 inch x 5 inch cardstock or pattern paper. Using double sided tape attach to front of 4 x 5 pre folded card.

Happy Halloween! Now you have a vintage card to send to friends
or family!
