My Army boy Andrew flies home tonight to have one last weekend with us.
He has a Columbus Day break and will be deloying to Iraq for 18 months between October 17-22. I know that we will not see him much as he will be busy saying good-bye to his friends also. We have planned an open house on Sunday with about 30 people coming.
Next week I have taken time off work, and my husband and our boxer Hailey will be driving down to Georgia (1,000 miles ONE WAY) to meet Andrew’s platoon and the company he will be with for the next 18 months. I cannot say I am looking forward to this trip – but need this from a Mom’s perspective and to give him that last hug.
Andrew is in the process of receiving 9 different shots some of which he might not be able to be around other people – my hope is to make it down to his base before that happens. Yucky things they must be exposed and protected from.
For those that have asked, Andrew is trained in infantry, also as a para-trooper and has Urban/Desert Assault special training. His company would clear out cities that have been bombed or are going through crisis among the other horrible things.
I want to thank everyone for their continued love and support. The next few weeks are going to be the toughest – but then the next 18 months are going to be a nightmare. All I can do is tie a knot in my faith and hold on! I am praying for peace among all our soldiers.
God speed, Nancy. I can't even begin to imagine your feelings.
i will keep your army boy in my prayers Miss N.
Lord have Mercy. Hug him hard and know he's in my prayers.
