This is another project I started before my Dad passed away in September. It has been put on hold until I was able to finish it this past weekend. I wanted to created a box that showed the military history in my family. My Dad – Stewart(on the lower left side of the box) was in World War II as were his older brothers – Jim and Jack. As a mother, I cannot imagine what my grandmother felt emotionally waiting and wondering if her three boys would come home from the war. All three were stationed in different areas on the world. On the right side of the box is my son Andrew – who is currently in training (since January 2006) in Fort Stewart, Georgia – but will be shipped to Iraq in the next few months. I wanted to commerate the bravery of my Uncle’s, my Dad, and my son in a piece that could be displayed in my home – or that could be shut and contain mementos of their Army service. I used various papers, ephemera, and rubber stamps on this project.
About Sugar Lump Studios
I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.
