Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{By The Sea}

April 6, 2008

This weeks theme at Gothic Arches
is “By The Sea”…one of my favorite things. I tried to make an arch using mostly stamping and colored images. Not something I normally do and to be honest I am not crazy about how the arch turned out. I stamped the pattern paper with a justjohanna swirl stamp using white embossing powder. Next I stamped a lighthouse, seagull, and compass using weathered wood distress ink. I hand tinted the images using photo tinting pens. Vintage sailor boys was added. Might have to make another this week as I am an avid lighthouse buff and love the sea/Great Lakes.

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.
