Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Canvas Art Girl’s}

June 3, 2011

I decided to sign up for the online course The She Art Workshop after seeing so many art friends that have taken the class. I know little about painting, textures, and canvas other than working with paper on to a surface. I can’t draw worth beans…although both my sister’s and my daughter are amazing artists. This will be the closet thing I can get…but oh the fun I had! :)

I didn’t have any stretch canvas in the house when my password for the class came yesterday and I was very eager to start. It certainly is a process playing with paint, one I have not touched since 9th grade art class. I really have fun with the girl portion, picking out their dresses, embellishments etc. I went simple this round, just wanted to get my feet wet.

Thanks for letting me share them with you. I can’t wait to try out different techniques and apply it to all sorts of art! Happy Friday! :)

    They turned out beautiful, Nancy! I especially love the first one. These are just my colors besides the neutrals and I see some bits of lace here :-). I can't believe you made three on one day. You are really busy. It would have taken me some days to get only one finished.
    Have a great weekend!

    Nancy, you did a great job on the art. I know what you mean about not being able to draw. I signed up for Christmas class and I haven’t had a chance to try anything yet. All I know is she makes it look simple but when I try and draw a reindeer, oh boy it’s a disaster. I’m not giving up I really do like the she art. Thanks for sharing your work.
