Holiday Cheer Gift Card Pockets

These cheerful pockets will brighten the spirits of those that receive them. Place gift cards inside for a more personal gift. There are many Paper Whimsy faces to select from in the shop to create this project. When the gift card is removed, they have a darling ornament for the tree.

Supplies:
Backgrounds 02 PNG
Yuletide Sentiments Digi Sheet 281
Tags – Digi Sheet 091
Digi Sheet – 234
Digi Sheet – 136
Old Book 07 PNG

Technique:
(1) Print out Background script in Microsoft Word. I placed 4 of the PNG images side by side at 3 x 5 sizes. Print and cut out. Distress edges with ink (machine stitching optional). Match front and backs (text on both sides) and run double-sided tape along the edges and bottom. Do not add double-sided tape to top – this is where you will insert your gift card.
(2) Print out Old Book 07 and Digi Tags 091. Cut a little off tag and tuck into top of pocket. Add book to front of pocket.
(3) Add beautiful face to front of pocket. Wrap doily around. Add Yuletide sentiment to front.
(4) Tie bow around bottom of gift card pocket.
(5) Add gift card.

{First Day of Whimsy – Button Faeries}

Button Faeries

These little Button Faeries are perfect bits of whimsy to add on the Christmas tree, packages and gift bags, garland, or let them take center stage on a card.

Supplies:
Beautiful Face Digi 091
Beautiful Face Digi 170
Beautiful Face Digi 294
Butterflies – Digi 267
Silver or White Doilies
Mica Flakes
Assorted Buttons
Light gauge wire
Crystal Sticker Bling
White Prima flowers
E6000 Glue or craft glue
Distress ink (Ranger Vintage Photo)
*Optional – book clips or small clamps

Technique:

(1) Print and cut out wings for Butterflies – Digi 267. Distress edges with ink.

(2) Select Paper Whimsy Beautiful faces and cut out. I looked for images that were looking straight into the camera and had a little bit of shoulder.

(3) Select buttons (about 4-5) that vary in size. The largest buttons will go towards the top of the body and the smaller will be the ends of the body.

(4) Using a thinner gauge wire, string buttons from smallest (bottom) to largest (top). Run the wire through the holes of each button. If you are using a button with 4 holes select 2 holes to run the wire through.

(5) When you are at the top of your wire button strand, add a prima flower behind the last button that you string. Set strand aside.

(6) Center your Paper Whimsy Beautiful face on to one butterfly wing with a little E6000 or other craft glue.

(7) Grab the button strand and place a little dab of glue behind the prima flower, and set into center of lower body. You may need to add a small book clip or clamp while glue sets up.

(8) Fold a small doily in 1/2 to form the back wing. Center on the back of the butterfly wing and glue in place. Again, you may need to add clamps while this sets up.

(9) Add small crystal sticker bling to the wing area. Dust wings with a little dab of craft glue and mica chips.

(10) Add thin wire to the back of the doily for hanging purposes.

Now you have a sweet little button faerie perfect for the holiday season!

I am so thrilled with the response for the “12 Days of Whimsy”…you are all AMAZING! :) I am trying my best to keep up with questions and comments…but fear as the day draws nearer I might not be able to visit each of you. We are going to have so much fun each day here!

I have had oodles of questions about this event and I will try to answer them the best I can:

(1) Each day a new post will be here on my blog featuring a project. I have tried to make the projects simple because this is the Christmas season and we are all busy little elves!

(2) A supply list will accompany each project with step by step instructions. I have tried my best to keep the supplies at what most of you would have in your studios…aside from some of the gorgeous Paper Whimsy faces and sheets.

(3) Are you aware that Paper Whimsy sheets are available for instant download if you want to print them off yourself? They are having a fabulous sale through Monday!

(4) If you aren’t following us on Facebook – I really recommend doing so. We have a “12 Days of Whimsy” page started for chatter, uploading projects and what not!
http://www.facebook.com/paperwhimsy

http://www.facebook.com/SugarLumpStudios

The drawing will be held on blog post comments here. If you want to be eligible each day for the giveaway then you must post comments on my blog.

(5) Each day there will be a drawing for three $5 coupons to use at PaperWhimsy during the month of December. You will want to leave a comment each day (under that project) so your name can go into the drawing. That is a total of 36 COUPONS during December 1st – 12th to be given away!

(6) And on December 13th day a drawing from amongst those who posted a comment from Day 1 – Day 12 ~ for a nice fat $50 gift certificate to Paper Whimsy. FA LA LA LA LA! :)

I hope this makes sense…it should be as easy as pumpkin pie, candy cane kisses, reindeer games! :)

Now this elf (aka Hobbit) better get back into the studio…we have festivities starting in a few days!

I am in love with these sweet Paper Mache houses. The creative possibilities are endless with each one. Create a vignette of little houses for the Holiday Season or make one to give as a gift which will become an heirloom cherished for years to come. They are not just for the holiday season, and can be decorated for all different purposes. What a great project to create with someone special (a little one, sister, aunt) this year! I promise if you create just one you will be smitten!

Supplies:
Paper Mache House
Digi Sheet 283
Digi Sheet Festive Suite II
Lace
Mica Chips

Technique:
(1) Prime house using gesso or white craft paint. Attach buttons to roof of house using E6000 glue.
(2) Print Digi Sheet 283 and loosely cut out windows and doors. Using matte gel medium, apply images to thin cardboard. Allow plenty of time to dry and cut out along edges of each object.
(3) Print Digi Sheets backgrounds in Microsoft Word and cut to fit front and sides of house. I used one pattern for the front, and a coordinating sheet for the sides. Using matte gel medium apply sheets to house and allow time to dry.
(4) When house is dry, attach windows and doors using E6000 glue. Be careful to make sure placement is even on each side. Also do the eaves on the roof portion.
(5) Apply matte gel medium all over the roof of house and dust mica chips all over (a good heavy coat) tap off access into a box that has been lined with wax paper and you can recycle the mica easily again. Use this technique on the bottom portion of the house and sides if you wish.
(6) Cover a star with mica chips and glue a button to front. Glue again on chimney portion.
(7) Glue lace along eaves of house. Glue and tie large ribbon where the top and bottom adjoin.
(8) Add bits of bling on windows and door.

I love this new Beautiful face that is available in the shoppe. She has such a sweet innocence about her. This project details how to create tags using the doors/windows Digi Sheet incorporating a face into the project. You could also create cards using the images. Perfect for the Holiday season!

Supplies:
Digi Sheet 294
Digi Sheet 281
Digi Sheet 283
Digi Sheet Festive Suite II
Digi Sheet 267
Mini White Clothespins
Mica Chips
Blossom Hues Ribbon

Technique:
(1)Print and cut out images of face, butterflies, word art, and doors/windows.
(2)Print background images in Microsoft Word from Digi Sheet Festive Suite II. Cut into tag shape. Add pattern papers and layer doors/windows on to tag. Add face. Add word art at button.
(3)Center butterfly under face and glue mini clothespin on top.
(4)Set hole in top of each tag, tie ribbon through. Add little pieces of bling. Sprinkle mica chips on butterfly wings.

We have fixed the glitch in our button and would be honored if you would spread the word!

{Angelic Dreams Fabric Book}

Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o’er all the earth
Ye who sang creations story,
Now proclaim messiah’s birth

I am getting in the Christmas spirit and wanted to make something with fabric using angels as my theme. This little fabric book was created using fabric images of old vintage angel postcards. I added all sorts of vintage hankies, antique laces, hand sewn beads, mother of pearl buttons, and silver snowflake charms throughout.

This book is available in my Etsy shop: etsy.com/shop/sugarlumpstudios
