Today my Dad would have been 84 so I am trying to celebrate his life and remember what a wonderful man he was. The thistle has now become symbolic in remembering him, it was tucked in his suit lapel the day we buried him, we had thistles etched on his gravestone, and my daughter doodled it on the February calendar marking his birthday.
I was just talking with my son how he never knew my dad & what a shame.
We started to giggle about what kind of grandfather my husband will make one day !
I like the simplicity of this post. Having lost my own sweet father last week this tugs at my heart.
May you take comfort in the wonderful memories you've shared with your Dad! Wonderful post! xxoo
Hope you're feeling better.
My Dad has been gone for 15 years and it's so meaningful to think of him and celebrate his life. I'm glad that you have such fond and happy memories :)
What a beautiful and touching post.
Hugs,
Christina
Hello Nancy,
Thanks for sharing the memory of your father with me. Daughters usually have such a close bond with their fathers and I can tell that you did.
My father just turned 79 years old…he (fortunately comes from a long lived blood line) both his mother and father lived to be a few months shy of 100. I'm hoping I inherited it as well because they not only lived a very long life but it had quality to it til the end.
Have a lovely day of memories..

A very sweet post about your dad, Nancy. I lost my dad 10 years ago this coming March…the day will be remembered and then we will celebrate his first great grandson's 7th birthday the following day.
I think posts like this offer all of us a chance to walk down our own lane of memories….
Beautiful tribute to your Dad (the music made me choke up) – very powerful and moving Nancy. I hope your move is going well- have a wonderful weekend and thank you always for you lovely comment!
Wonderful tribute to your dad… My own dad is quickly aging away in a nursing home. It's hard going there and not knowing whether or not he'll think I'm his sister or myself. It's good to remember the early memories of them young and vibrant!
Nice tribute to your Dad.
Come over from Debby's The Gathering Nest where she was sharing her altered spoons made from your tutorial. Had to pop over and see yours…lovely. All your creations are divine and I look forward to seeing more from your artistically talented fingers.
Thanks for sharing ;-)
What a sweet and loving tribute to your dad…I still miss mine after many years..He died at a very young age.
From Nancy to another, I have enjoyed browsing your blog so much.
So much so I joined and look forward to seeing your future projects…
Please stop to see me; I love to have you.
Hugs and Blessings,
