I am joining Wen from Apple Apricot for another Simply Neutrals Tuesday.
I made this little vintage baby dress art awhile back and finally photographed it to share today. The dress detail really speaks for itself, all the delicate embroidery. It is much prettier in person. Just a sweet image and some mother of pearl buttons because I wanted to details and dainty details to show.
I was able to spend some time with my son’s Ian and Andrew on Mother’s Day. My daughter could not join us as she was working. The boy’s took me out for a Chinese dinner and a ride in my son Andrew’s new car. He had fun showing me the take off (it has a turbo package). I wanted to share our little outing with all of you and hope you all had a Happy Mother’s Day as well.
Dear Nancy, this is such a sweet little dress. So beautiful! I love the image and buttons you added, to make it even more precious and special. I am happy to hear the party is such a good incentive for you. You’re so welcome, sweetie! This party really is meant to be for the joy of my dear blog friends like yourself. So your sweet comment makes my day :) xx hugs
Oh Nancy, this is precious! And look at all the detail involved~ All the lovely stitching that authenticates this sweet gown. Beautiful life you have added to it; with the vintage photo and buttons~ *sigh* What a beauty! Thanks for sharing the photo of your wonderful Mothers Day! How fun! Hugs, Karen O
Dearest Nancy, I adore your tiny dress, so adorable with the image and buttons, and so beautiful made.
I also try to find such sweetness when searching flea markets or shops.
I`m so happy your two dear sons took you to dine and have a great tour in the new turbo-car. :-)
Hugs ,Dorthe
ooh this is so sweet!! I just found several vintage baby dresses/gowns at an antique store and I want to try to alter them like you do… I love all of your work.
xo, Pattie
It’s a divine little dress and your extra touches have made it so very special Nancy! :)
Utterly adorable vintage dress Nancy, and what a great way to spend Mother’s Day-with your sons and lots of laughs!
I hope there was a huge whole under that image. Nothing worse than some crafter destroying beautiful antiques solely for their pleasure. Makes my blood boil!
Thank you Sande for stopping by! How unfortunate that you did not read the whole blog post. The dress was a vintage dress – not antique quite a big difference. It saddens me that their are people who troll the internet and art world merely to leave harassing and negative comments. Please remember, that when you comment on many web sites your IP address is recorded. I hope you find some time to find a more positive hobby then leaving nasty comments on blogs.
I don’t kniw why you felt the need to be so rude to my sweet friend. She can do whatever she wants with her belongings whether they are vintage, new, or antique. It’s none of your business what she does and she certainly doesn’t need to hear your negative opinion! If you don’t have anything nice to say then you should keep it to yourself.
And by the way, “hole” is spelled HOLE ~ not whole …just sayin’
You must lead a very sad life to leave this comment, sad person
I love the sweet dress, Nancy! I live all of your work!!
Nancy, this as always is absolutely beautiful and I love the way you have incorporated a cabinet card of the pretty little one in a similar dress.
To ‘S’, whoever you are,
Whether this dress was vintage. antique or even bought last week it is not your business to attempt to belittle anyone for their choices!
If you read Nancy’s posts and were familiar with her beautiful creativity, you would realise that Nancy has a deep love of vintage items and treasures. Many people simply toss them away or leave them to become forgotten and moth ridden in an attic.
Not Nancy.
Nancy breathes new life into them and displays them to enjoy their beauty.
These items, whether they be lace or fabric are treated with love and respect. A little sewing can be undone. It is not altering the original piece.
You know what makes my blood boil? People with nothing better to do than seek to offend.
Nancy is one of the warmest, sharing women I have had the pleasure to connect with via blogs. She is so giving of her art, I count myself to be so lucky as to have received art from Nancy, for no other reason than she has the biggest heart.
Whether or not the dress was an antique or vintage is irrelevant, what is relevant is Nancy has found passion in her art and that passion is clear for all of us to see. The amount of pleasure I’ve received from viewing Nancy’s art over the years has been beyond measure. She is one of those artists whose name I recognised from her published art, long before her and I connected – she was an inspiration then and has since become an even bigger inspiration to me. That is what this community of ours is all about:- caring, sharing, warm hearted women who share a passion for creating, for art. Negativity has no home within such a community and it is so sad that this person would take the time and trouble to leave such negativity. At the end of the day, Nancy, you can surely do as you please with whatever item comes into your being.
You bring joy to so many of our lives Nancy! This sweet baby dress is no exception, it is positively darling!
Wishes
Lynne
