{Diddle-Diddle Dumpling Enchanted Room}

May 11, 2010

I signed up for a challenge last month at Paper Whimsy and our assignment was to create an enchanted room using a favorite story book character, nursery rhyme, etc. I selected the Mother Goose rhyme “Diddle Diddle Dumpling, My Son John” as my inspiration.

I love this little whimsical boy from Paper Whimsy and had to incorporate something to go with the nursery rhyme…it was said many times when my oldest son Ian (which is “John” in Scotch Gaelic) when he was a baby…

I found an old shoe in my studio stash, painted the wooden cigar box, collaged with K & Company papers, vintage lace and buttons. Also added some Paper Whimsy digital collage sheets (lullaby and butterflies). An old key, wooden spools, and more buttons were also added.

The Enchanted Room was matched with another partner and will be shipped out to her tomorrow…I hope she likes it. I found it fun to do a “boyish” theme rather than girly…

I will also receive a room from my Secret Swap partner and await anxiously at the mailbox! :)

    This is so great! I'm so inspired by your choice of rhyme. My son's middle name is Ian and I actually didn't know that is was Gaelic for John! I just love it when I learn something new. Stop by my blog when you have time, i have something for you.
