Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Fabric Collages}

August 26, 2009

I have been in sewing mood this week and made a few more fabric collages. I have been using “scraps” from the market bags I sewed back in June. I increased my “lace stash” by shopping on Ebay back in July, and my buttons were found on a trip to the antique mall (thank goodness hubby has a good eye)…I think “Distinguished” is my favorite because I love to work with old cabinet photos of men. I purchased this cabinet card last year and he has been dubbed “Clarence”…which suits him. My brother mentioned last night he has seen “old characters” just like Clarence down on the University of Michigan campus (most likely professor’s)…either way it was fun to do these little fabric collages using hand and machine stitching.

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    I do not have the patience to sew, but seeing your projects makes me want to! My grandmother was a fabulous seamstress and crafter. She taught me everything I need to know to sew, but my machine still sits in the closet.
