Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Faded Rose Fabric Collage}

August 20, 2010

My first fabric collage using a Paper Whimsy image. I used Digi Single 08 which I printed on to fabric. I inked the edges for a more distressed look. Using a combination of duck cloth, and coordinating fabrics I sewed the collage portion and added bits of antique lace and trims purchased at local antique shops. Hand sewn celluloid, mother of pearl, and vintage buttons were also added. Seam binding ribbon, lace and rusty washers adorn the hanger for display. An old vintage key, faded paper rose, and photo corners were also added as embellishments. I am delighted with how the colored image works so well with the fabric combination.
