Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

Little Shabby Vintage Books

July 21, 2011

Just having a bit of fun with old books, ephemera, vintage laces and seam binding. Topped with a silver photo charm and sweet images from Paper Whimsy.

It’s been a HOT week here in Michigan…right now we are at 104F…no relief anytime soon. I am one of those crazy people that would much rather deal with snow than the heat any day! I hope those of you also suffering from this heat wave receive cooler weather soon!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

LOVE this idea! Anything to do with old books…..I’m there! So decorative and pretty…I do hope you get some relief from the heat soon…I’m in Oregon, so lucky that we don’t have to deal with it. Quite the opposite right now, it’s unusually cool for us, mid 70’s.

Oh how beautiful they are dear Nancy- I love the old feeling captured when looking at them, and the quiet lovelyness ,that comes with them.
I`m sorry for you, about the heat- here we have cold rainy, stormy weather- and would have loved a bit sun ,the last day, the kids are here,-but it seems weather are doing very strange this year-all over.
    Sending you hugs and love.

Your book bundles are beautiful, Nancy!
Hopefully it will cool down for you soon. I wouldn’t mind if you’d send over 20 degrees. With 57 it doesn’t feel very summerly at the moment. I know though, that I can stand those cool temperatures better than hot and humid weather and so I don’t complain.

Nancy; these are so lovely! You’re a magician!

I’m with you – I’d rather have snow. We are just a tad lower in terms of humidity but it’s still extremely warm. I’m counting the days until Fall! xxoo

Oh how I adore your work, so pretty. I picture all whole shelf of your beautiful artwork in a whimsical, vintage country home with the back french doors open to the outdoors. That’s what I envision when looking at your stunning work. Such inspiration. Thank you for sharing your work.
