Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Lord Frederick Leighton Arch}

October 31, 2009

This weeks theme at Gothic Arches is “Lord Frederick Leighton” who was a Victorian master that produced highlt-finished paintings. I found my image at s11ver’s Flickr site…she has a gorgeous collection of all sorts of things.

I used K & Company papers that were stamped with gold ink and embossed. Old text that was brushed with chalks was added to the arch, image, sheer ribbon and double prima flowers. I love the “far away” look in this portrait.

Today Gothic Arches has moved back into the blogger site:
gothicarches.blogspot.com…hope you pay a visit and become a fan!

Happy November everyone!

    Nancy, what a super arch! I love the dreamy look to it all. Great master artist to borrow from. But what is highit-finished? I'm sure it is a typo but I can't figure out what it should be. The gold makes this so elegant.

    Thanks for your comment on my entry. The next entry down is one I made using some of the goodies I won in a drawing you sent me a couple of months ago.
