{Memories of Dad}

This Christmas I created two cigar boxes for my sisters as Christmas gifts. I wanted to use photos of my Dad through the years, and ephemera that was meaningful. I added a truck (he worked for Ford Motor Company), Scottish thistles (his heritage), tartan papers, fish (he loved to go fishing), WWII mementos from his service in the Army, celtic and a Scottish Rampant lion stamp and some Robert Burns poetry from an old book.

I also typed some of the lyrics to “Oh Danny Boy” one of his favorite songs. Inside I added a cd of the group “The Ink Spots”. My father sang one line from “When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano” for my sister and I the day before he passed away. We all cried together as we opened the gifts – but I think this is something we will all treasure just as we did my Dad.

Merry Christmas Daddy – it wasn’t the same without you, but you are forever in our hearts!!!
