Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Muslin & Vintage Lace}

August 30, 2011

Two new little muslin dresses that I sewed from scratch. I added vintage laces and mother of pearl buttons (my favorite) and of course seam binding ribbon. The first features one of my favorite Paper Whimsy images (she reminds me so much of my daughter when she was wee) and the second dress features an Antique tin type that I have dubbed “Dumpling”.

I am having a sale in my Etsy shop through September 2nd. Use the coupon code “Facebook” and you will receive 30% off your entire purchase. *You must use code at time of purchase for discount*

Happy last day of August (phew! where did this month go?) :)

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    My goodness, but you’re busy, busy, busy creating! I just love the little dresses–so very vintage and so very sweet! Now that the grandkids here are back at school and the ones visiting have flown home, I’m hoping to get back to creating some art; although I miss them already, and it will be a little hard to switch gears and realize I have time to myself again, I’m looking forward to pulling out my inks and paper and stamps, and embellishments!

    You have quite blown me away. To have created those most adorable dresses from scratch and then to go that step further and adorn them.
    Oh I am quite loss for words.

    Dear Nancy, they are so lovely made, and beautiful altered with your added sweetnes-
    Here the summer also left, and as we almost had no sun, it seems it was not here at all.

    As you know, I just adore these charmers! I have one hanging in my living room :) Just so beautiful! Hope all is well there. We lucked out with Hurricane Irene; came out with minimal clean up and we only lost power for minutes! I almost feel guilty we got away with such little effects of such a power storm that I never dreamed would come up the coast that far! My heart goes out to those who will suffer long-term effects and also for the loss of loved ones!

    xxoo Marilyn
