Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Patriotic Boxes}

August 30, 2007

I received my complimentary issue of “Somerset Holidays & Celebrations” the other day and have been drooling over all the wonderful art that is in this issue. I was thrilled to have my Patriotic boxes featured on pages 116 & 117.

I had made them to add a little “spirit” around the house. As many of you already know my son Andrew is awaiting deployment to Iraq – and the date keeps changing – nothing like sitting on pins and needles. I had hoped to see “my boy” this weekend but they will not give him leave for Labor Day – so I am praying that I can get down to Georgia to meet his platoon and hug him good-bye before he leaves. Here is to you my dear PVC Crumb…Mama loves you so very much! thank you for serving!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Nancy I'm going to have to find the magazine. The photos of your boxes look great but I want to see them closer.

    Andrew is in my thoughts and prayers. What a handsome young man. Godspeed Andrew!

    Congratulations once again my talented friend! your boxes are ADORABLE!!! I don't know why we Aussies don't make these sort of things, (Patriotic Treasures I mean) Americans really have a wonderful pride in their country don't they.

    Nancy I think of you often I do hope you are able to make the trip to give Andrew a hug… Bless you xx
