Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Patriotism Arch}

July 8, 2008

This weeks theme at Gothic Arches is to create an arch using the theme “Patriotism”…I used the Military Honor stamps from Sugar Lump Studios with the photo stamp I love of my Dad during WWII (he is the cutie pie in the middle). Although my Dad was patriotic to the U.S.A. he was also a patriot to his parent’s homeland…Scotland. His heart ran true for both countries.

This week had given me time to reflect about the sacrifices so many have made for my country – including my son Andrew. We are awaiting his “leave time” as he should be told in the next few weeks when he can come home for a “2 week break”….it’s been 9 months since I last saw him. God Bless Our Troops!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    I love the military papers and what looks like as part of a photo you used for your background. And, of course, that stamp is fabulous. What a great arch!

    I love all of the layers and fun elements that you used on your arch. Excellent composition! Oh, I'm sure your heart is tugging as you await your son's leave. I'm sending you a big hug from one mom to another.
