Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Red Rose Fabric Collage}

December 27, 2010

This fabric collage was made using various calico fabrics,linens,beads,mother of pearl buttons,antique laces, an old earring, and sweet little heart buttons. I am enjoying my “winter break” from work…but the time is flying by fast. Nothing like staying indoors on a cold winter day and creating. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year.

O my Luve’s like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve’s like the melodie
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry:

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

Robert Burns

    Nancy, your collage is a lovely creation. There is a sweetness about it, not just from the photo, but from the muted colors and arrangement of all of the items used. I like the antique doilies, buttons, and lace.

    Happy New Year, with good health, prosperity, and creativity abound.
