Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Shabby Altered Gothic Arch}

January 30, 2010

We closed on our new home yesterday…and spent the day meeting with the window company (ordering replacements) and worked for several hours removing old carpet and padding from our bedroom. I am sooooo tired today and our adventure has just begun! Today I am “thinking spring” although our weather is frigid!

I made this wooden Gothic Arch a few months ago using a paper napkin as my background paper. The arch was painted white and aqua floral lace trim was added to the sides. Ribbon, image, and ephemera were also added.

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    I just love your arches and you are definitely "The Queen of the Art-ches" That's what you should call them Nancy "ART-ches". I love the color and the image on this one. Great work as usual!

    Hello Nancy,

    I love the little arch and I like the napkin technique.

    Glad you closed on your home…yep, now the work begins…We started that adventure last May…lots of new windows, new heat & air system, standby generator (since I'm on a mountain ridge..no one can get to me if the power goes out and the lane is iced over).

    I still have so much decorating and sewing to do so this year is full of projects.

    Have fun and don't work yourself into the chiropractor's office. :0)

    Drop by when you have a moment.
