Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Shabby Text and Touches}

November 10, 2012

This is just a sneak peek of what I *plan* to use in the new tiny studio space. The Expedit will hold some of my favorite collections. I have been narrowing down what to display on it for the last several weeks. At the rate I am going, it will be done next October.

This antique frame once belonged to my Great-Grandparents…James and Elsie Ford. They lived in Redford Township, Michigan on a farm until the city of Detroit bought their land many years ago. I actually have many pieces that belonged to them, and were then passed along to my maternal Grandparent’s. Someone at one time painted the frame white and it has just been sitting around the basement. I plan to do something unique with it on the wall of our newly painted bedroom.

A few items that I also finished this week. The small journal uses a collage image from Digital Collage Sheets which was printed on to fabric. The little mini journal is a combo of pattern paper and fabrics. I was pleased with the results.

Last, a Christmas stocking that I completed this week. There have been several requests for these again this year. I forgot how labor intensive they are too make, but the end result is always worth it.

    It’s what I call “shopping in my own home”!!!! Over the years I’ve gathered quite a few decor items, and when I’m in the mood to re-do a table top or a mantel I just go shopping!
    My husband keeps saying I need to get rid of stuff… but just because it hasn’t been “out” for a couple of years doesn’t mean it won’t be again…ha!!! Your creations always looks so beautiful, the stocking is gorgeous. I have your tutorial.. and I WILL MAKE ONE MYSELF..
    just not so sure it will be as lovely as yours!!

    love your birdcages and that frame is fabulous!! We too love using vintage frames and hubby restores whatever he can (he’d die if I told him you painted one white but I like it!).
    Your journal and stocking are so beautiful…it just reminded me of the 12 days tutorials you so generously shared last year. I need to look them up again :)

    Dear Nancy, your stocking is magical in its beauty, and the little journal so lovely with the sweetest P.W.image
    What a special treat to have that frame from your greatgrandparents, it is beautiful, and I`m sure you will make it even more beautiful, when decorated it. Love your birds cages.
    Wish you a lovely day, with warm hugs from Dorthe
