I am joining Wen from Apple Apricot for another Simply Neutrals Tuesday.
Today, I am sharing this altered cigar box from my archives. I call it “We Three”. I do love working with old cigar boxes and vintage cabinet photos. I always wonder about the people in them, what they were like and how they lived. Sometimes there is so much sadness in their face and sometimes you can feel their happy spirit. When I am out buying old cabinet cards quite often I buy those that “speak” to me as strange as that may sound.
These “Three” seem like quite a happy brood.
HI Nancy. I love this little piece. I know what you mean about these lovely old photos. They have so many stories to tell and the folks in them are waiting for us to create some art around them. I can’t stop myself from buying it whenever I see one that pulls at my heart. Hugs, Sue
Dear Nancy, your altered box is a beauty! The decorations suit the beautiful old photograph of the lovely children so well. It’s as if someone dear to them has gathered some precious memories in a box. Hugs to you, xx
Greetings to you, my new blogfriend. Herzlich Pippa
Hi there Nancy! Again you have blessed us with a beautiful creation~ What a thoughtful idea to repurpose this box with a vintage vignette! I like this idea; you are so inspirational and clever! Buttons, lace and bobbins; gorgeous~ & they do look like their story is a happy one! : ) Thanks for sharing. Take care friend, Karen O

Hi Nancy! Beautiful piece of art! Yes, I know what you mean when you say you buy the cabinet cards that speak to you. The CC you used above would have certainly spoken to me if I saw it in a shop. I would snatched that one up right away! I hope everything is well?!
Hi Nancy..
Your box is very charming and I always enjoy seeing re-loved finds. You have such a way of putting it all together and making it something that’s really special. The lace..buttons and spools with music.. it’s all so lovely. And how sweet is that photo of the children. I feel the same about seeing old photos and wonder about the people and their lives. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings..

Such a beautiful assemblage in that cigar box and yes you can only go for those cabinet cards you are drawn to! Nancy if you are thinking of moving then start packing now the things “just in case” as you probably remember how tiring it all is and you need every bit of energy for that dear friend.
Yes studio second after kitchen for sure. I do know where and how to fit things but that was a huge exercise in itself and the downsizing meant I had to give up so many of my current ways of working but hey you know in the end we can work with so little if we want. I’ve been doing that for the odd card lately.
Sending love and kind thoughts to you,
Suzy
