I am joining Wen from Apple Apricot for another Simply Neutrals Tuesday.
I would like to offer Jennie as a freebie for you to all use in your artwork again. Just right click and save her to your hard drive.
Last week completely slipped away from me. There are so many of you I need to visit and I feel badly that you left me such lovely comments and I have yet to return the favor. My mission this week is to catch up on that! :-)
This is a little simple altered cigar box I made using some lace and an old cabinet card. Her name is Jennie Murray and there was a little bit about her written on the back of the photo. She hails from Michigan too! Ironically, my paternal grandmother’s maiden name was also Murray…so I wonder hmmmmm could Jennie have been a distant cousin? I doubt it as my Grandmother did not come over here until 1922 from Scotland but it is fun to think about.
I love when I find this type of cigar box to create art on because the lid is recessed and it makes it nice to inlay the art into. I also added just a little bit of paper on the interior. A great box to hide your trinkets and treasures.
I hope you all have a wonderful week! The trees are almost in full color where I live. I love this time of year. I just wish it could stay for a long while.
I am overwhelmed! This is so beautiful Nancy!!
I truly love every visit to your blog : ) because your
work inspires and encourages me~
I have a few boxes and should give this a try! when
the time is right.
Take care and thanks for sharing, this is gorgeous~

Beautiful!! So happy to see you sharing on your blog again. I should try this, my hubby is a cigar smoker so we have so many cigar boxes piling up….

Beautifully created in Simply Neutrals. Thank you Nancy for sharing Jennie, she is precious. Autumn Bliss Dear…
I love this sweet box. I have one of your creations on this type of box. After I got it I looked
for boxes like this, they are great. Unfortunately I never did get one. I had hoped there would be one it a batch of cigar boxes I ordered on line, but no such luck. Thanks for sharing the wonderful cabinet card photo.
Dear Nancy this is just the sweetest altered box where you have used that truly beautiful vintage child’s image. The box would make a treasured keepsake for holding precious items – and we all have those!
Beautiful work and I am so happy that you are linking to Wen’s party again!
Thank you for sharing Jennie too!
Hugs to you dear friend,
Suzy

Your box is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the sweet image.
This is a lovely box and the photo is delightful.
Nancy, I love what you’ve done with the box. It’s simply gorgeous! Your work is such an understated inspiration, in those beautiful neutrals. Thank you so much for sharing the image, too. I noticed that if you click first on the image and then right click, there is a larger image to save. I look forward to using Jennie in a project soon :) Your blog is such a distraction, I could just spend ages enjoying all your drool-worthy artworks. Have a good week.
Hugs, Jesse
Your altered cigar box is absolutely gorgeous, dear Nancy. Love everything about it.
Thanks for sweet Jennie – i’m running out of images to use so this is very much appreciated.
Sorry, I’m late but my computer crashed. Had to buy a new one.
Sending hugs and love,
