{Spring Banner}

March 10, 2007

I have been watching the beautiful banners that I see around the web, on blogs and in the Two Peas gallery for months now and decided it was time to try making one.
I wanted a “spring theme” so I used a large oval cutter to make “eggs”. I cut them first from cardstock, then cut a second oval from pattern paper. I then machine stitched around the edges, and added eyelets to run the ribbon through.

The large swirl stamp is from Just Johanna….I LOVE LOVE did I mention I LOVE this stamp?!!! :) White pigment ink was selected and heat embossed using white embossing powder. Vintage easter ephemera was added..as well as letters cut from pattern paper.
Prima flowers and colorful brads were added as accents…and it was all tied together with various ribbons.

I hung the banner in our dining room – and it was so fitting for it to be displayed today…Michigan had 40 degree temps, bright sunshine and the snow is melting…hurry SPRING! :)
