Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Stars & Stripes}

June 12, 2007

Daring Cardmakers had a challenge to make something “celestial” with planets, moons, sun or stars and I made this card using “stars” to honor my son Andrew.

Andrew is in the Army – 3rd Infantry, 4th Brigade, 3rd Batallion, 7th Infantry Regiment, ALPHA Company – stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia and we are awaiting his leave June 23- July 15. At present it is the LONGEST amount of time I have not seen my son. He was here over the holidays and left January 4th, 2007. I am so excited that he will be coming home in the next few weeks – but with that excitement comes dread. Shortly after his “leave” he will be deployed for service in Iraq and his stay will be 12 months and longer.

I made this card using Andrew’s basic training graduation photo (May 2006) that I altered in Paint Shop Pro using the “chrome tool”…added some stars that had been stamped and embossed with gold, and computer fonts (Army font) to the photo.
GODSPEED ANDREW!!! May the stars and stripes keep you safe!

    This is a great card. Enjoy your time with your son, I will be thinking of you when he leaves (my cousin has done two tours so far, it's always hard for the family).
