Hello!
On July 24, 2015 – three weeks ago today I had a stroke. I have been in acute rehab at the University of Michigan hospital until August 12th. It effected the right side of my body, and I am learning to walk and use my right arm again. They are hopeful I will make a full recovery, but I have a very long road ahead of me. I am learning to type with my left hand at the moment, and will be involved with more occupational and physical therapy as an outpatient. Not sure when I will be able to create art again, but gaining use of my right hand is more important to me than walking.

Thank you for the support and I plan to beat this! :-)

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Dear Nancy
I am at a loss for words and fear that I will use the wrong words and not fully express how I feel upon reading this post.
Know that it has come as a great shock to me and know that you will remain in my thoughts. You will be inundated with positive thoughts from us all. We are all rooting for you and we all know that you have the strength to overcome all the hurdles you have faced until this point and any you may face. You are such a strong woman that there is no doubt you will regain the power of your right hand and you will return to create your art which melts the hearts of all of us.
Take the greatest of care and remember, you will be in my thoughts.
Sending a bundle of warm wishes your way.

I am so sorry and will def. have you in my thoughts and prayers daily. I know you have the faith and attitude, along with the strength and will to recovery completely; and so you will. I am wishing you a strong, positive journey. That’s is what you will have to be..STRONG and POSITIVE. My brother in law suffered a severe right side stroke 4 yrs ago. We are lucky he has survived. But with determination he came from a wheel chair, a leg brace, caring for himself, taught himself left handedness, and a constant positive attitude. He exercises 3 and 4 times a day, now rides a 3 wheel bike, can use the internet, for an update for all of us (as he lost his speech) and so far no amount of prayer has brought that back. His contagious smile and his attitude has given us all incentive to be thankful everyday for our minor little problems. You will be incentive to a lot of people in your life, and your families lives…NEVER GIVE UP…we truly will miss your fun, creative work and all that you have shared, but we are willing to go down your new path in any way you may need us. Don’t be afraid to ask. Your life has changed, but you are still very much loved. Prayers and Hugs to you and yours as you learn the new way.
