Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Sweet Love Notes}

February 6, 2011

This paper mache altered mailbox is part of the “Smitten” class that I have been teaching for the past few weeks. I had such a great time creating this. The mailbox was picked up at a local Hobby Lobby store, and altered with various pattern papers, old hymnal music, Paper Whimsy image (one of my favorites), German glass glitter (on the flag), lace and ephemera. I tucked little vintage postcards and packages inside because I like the little door being open on the piece. A labor of love…but so much fun to create! :) Happy Sunday!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    So sweet! Everyone should have a valentine mailbox that others can slip notes or cards (or candy!) into. Yours is just darling!
    Hugs,

    I just love this, Nancy! I love anything with german glass glitter and music paper. You could tell it was labor intensive but oh the outcome is beautiful. I so wished I could have taken this class!
    Enjoy your Sunday.
    Hugs,
