{Simply Neutrals #18 – Altered Dress Canvas}

March 2, 2016

Hello March!  I hope you will be a happy month!

I am joining Wen from Apple Apricot for another Simply Neutrals Tuesday.

I am sharing something from the art archives. I have not been creating, but wanted to get back in the groove if I can this month. I am sharing Altered Dress canvases that I made a few years back for the Inspire project at Paper Whimsy

Thank you so much for your kind words about the loss of my beloved Hailey Anne. It has been 2 weeks today since she left and my world is so different. She really was my companion. I miss her terribly. This quote has been helping me each day. I do feel her spirit with me every day…in some way and try to take comfort in that.

{September’s Arrival}

I can’t believe it is September already! Where does the time go? I am in web mode (my part time job) and updating websites thus the little hiatus from blogging the past two weeks.

Here are a few projects that I completed over the last several weeks. Victorian tussie mussies and a new altered fabric dress.
While I hate saying good-bye to summer – I always welcome “cooler” temperatures!

Happy Friday! Hope you have a great weekend!

{Old Glory & Blue Jean}

May 24, 2012

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:

‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I am having fun playing with primitive rugged fabrics this week. Little coffee stained flag ornaments were made using ticking material and various calico. I added Paper Whimsy fabric faces and word art to the fronts.
The little blue jean toddler vest and dress (be still my heart – it is sooo cute in real life) has antique/vintage laces and mother of pearl buttons.

Getting ready for the official start of summer with Memorial Weekend.
I hope each one of you has a safe and Happy Memorial Day!

{Petite Dress Canvas}

April 7, 2012

As seen on the Paper Whimsy Inspire Blog:
http://paperwhimsy.com/inspiration/?p=2521

Who can resist a bit of Haute Couture? These little dresses are delicate and frilly. They have been mounted on an altered canvas and oh la la…you have something tres chic.

You can create your dresses using fabrics or pattern papers and make them as fancy schmancy as you wish. The color combinations and embellishments are endless. I promise you will become a designer fashionista once you try making just one!

I have created a downloadable PDF tutorial with directions for this project:

Wishing you and your families a Happy Easter! May you enjoy many blessings!
