{Shabby Junk Journal Chipboard Tags}

October 11, 2018

Hello My Friends! Happy October!

Such a crazy fall here in Michigan, the tempatures were in the mid-80’s this past week still. One day it will be a heat wave and the next in the 50’s. It doesn’t look like the leaves will be real colorful this year, so trying to enjoy what is on the trees right now before the snow comes!

I created these Shabby Chipboard tags a few days ago with bits of antique laces, mother of pearl buttons, ephemera and vintage images. The tags are a little bigger and perfect for those that love junk journals (you can write on the back) and I have listed them in my Etsy shop.

{Shabby Little Wooden Chest}

I finally finished this little shabby wooden chest up and was able to photograph it. It had such great bones and is one solid piece of wooden furniture. I distressed it and gave it a warm shabby white color called “Swiss Coffee” by Behr paint. I am pleased with the results.

I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! <3

I didn’t have anything new made for this weeks share, so I pulled something from the archives that has been a favorite of mine. This bag was featured in Somerset Haute Handbags last year. I created it using a Victorian petticoat flounce ruffle. Bascially, it is a muslin bag that I added the ruffle to the front of. A beautiful piece of vintage wide lace for the shoulder strap and a handmade flower. The cabinet card I photographed it with has long been a favorite of mine.

I created this little canvas pouch a few years back. But, I did not put the finishing touches in until this week. It took a few years to figure out what I was going to tuck into the pocket. I prepared the canvas by painting it, adding vintage sheet music and then a fabric collage of a Christmas image on that. On the bottom of the canvas I added a pocket and tucked craft shred, bottle brush trees, and silver snowflakes. Vintage seam binding acts as hangers for the canvas and a dusting of mica chips for added sparkle.

I also wanted to share a rare photo of my three kiddies at the recent memorial service for my ex- FIL who passed away in September from cancer. I am so thankful to have had a lovely conversation over the phone with him September 2 and a visit to his home September 17th. He passed on the 18th. Ironically, that is the day I buried my own father in 2006. I still had remained on contact sending birthday and Christmas cards (as they did with me) and it hit me that this man really was a second father figure for so much of my life as I had known him since I was 15.

It reminds me how very short and precious life is and that we all take so much for granted!

grateful
