Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Vintage Cabinet Card Cigar Box}

October 13, 2013

Hello friends and Happy October!
I can’t believe it has been nearly 3 weeks since my last post!
Life has been busy and we have many adjustments going on in my household right now. Without getting into the nitty gritty, my husband was diagnosed with a degenerative disease back in August, and emotionally and physically it has been very difficult for us. We try to remind ourselves that it is not terminal, and there are so many things to be grateful for…but we also have to make accommodations for things that he can no longer do and set some things up in our home differently.

I have not been creating or blogging much because of this…so today I am trying to play catch up. On thing that has lifted our spirits is the totally gorgeous weather we have had for over a week here in Michigan. I wish it could stay year round. Autumn in my favorite time of year…beautiful colors and the temperature is “just right”!

This little cigar box I picked up at our local antique mall and altered it with an old cabinet photo (from Michigan) and various embellishments. I was just happy to create something. Sometimes it is hard to get back in that “mode” when you have been out of it for several weeks.

I also wanted to share a few vintage freebies for you to use in your art work. I only ask that you not put these in collage sheets for sale, personal use only. thanks!
