Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Vintage Valentine Tins}

January 5, 2009

I have had these little heart chocolate tins for awhile, and painted them last summer. Over my winter break from work I made Valentine tins. The first has tulle, silk flowers, and buttons adorned on the top. When opened there is a collage of a little girl and the rim of the heart has gold rick-rac.

The second heart has a collage and uses the heart lid as it’s base. Gold pearl roping was added to the edges. Papers are from K & Company, and vintage images from Lisa’s Altered Art. Today is my last day before hitting the books for my college course and going back to work tomorrow! Where did my break go?!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    "Who Says I'm Not Sweet?" I love this Nancy. What kind of paint did you use to paint the tins? I have some altoid tins and want to paint them but I am afraid the paint will scrape off. Thanks sweetie! Love, Jamie

    nancy,
    These little tin hearts are just so adorable. Do you give them to family members or do you display them as a grouping? I love hearts.
