Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Whimsical Altered Spoon}

November 2, 2009

I picked up this silver spoon last summer at the antiques mall and it has been sitting waiting to be altered. This is my first attempt so I opted to try and keep it simple. I love the grapes at the top of the spoon because they give a beautiful detail. I used silver wire and wrapped it around the handle of the spoon adding pearl beads and little antique buttons. The whimsical image is from Paper Whimsy and I added sparkle and the word “Muse” from old book text. Altering spoons may be a new addiction! :)

    What a creative idea! Although why am I surprised? you are a very creative person! Nancy, no my cabin is right along the AuSable River, not far from Hale, MI. Where are you? I agree, I love the UP but too far of a drive. The Au Sable is the next best thing!

    It's certainly beautiful and brilliant for a first attempt!

    I've seen this done only once before but it was not as delightful as yours.
