Sugar Lump Studios

Art by Nancy Maxwell James

{Whispers of Pink Fabric Collage Journal}

March 10, 2017

I wanted to share my fabric journal that I was working on this past week. It really feels great to be sewing again and working on things in the studio. I used various vintage images that were printed on fabric and I tried to find them that had “pink” somewhere in the photo.

I incorporated lots of vintage embellishments: hankies, mother of pearl buttons, fabric flowers, antique laces and trims, doilies, and ribbon. This journal has a little locket that is attached to the ribbon streamers as well.

I will be listing this in my Etsy shop:

I am grateful to have power as well right now. Like many, Michigan was hit quite severely with a windstorm and over 800,000 were without power since Wednesday. Many are still without and it is COLD. I hope they get it restored soon!

Happy Friday!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Very pretty. Just saw your post on Instagram, too. Wind seems to be a big problem many places this weekend. Our weather took a turn, too, so our craft meeting won’t be in the garden. We’re moving to a coffee shop to escape the gray, windy day. Have a good Saturday.

    This is so beautiful.. Such lovely colors and the images are so pretty! Are they printed on fabric? I really am inspired to make a lovely book someday. I’m so glad that you have heat and power. That would be terrible in that cold. Have a peaceful and happy weekend.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Tamara

    Nancy, so happy to hear you did not loose your power. We were also fortunate and only lost ours for 2 hours.

    Beautiful work. I recognize some of those sweet images from P.W. I should do this someday too…not sure I have enough
    laces and doilies but I must be close! You got our wind it seems. Today was beautiful…57 degrees, calm and mostly sunny. It would seem spring is really on its way.
