I know it is a bit early thinking about winter and the holiday season, but this image sparked my muse this week and my art just went with it.
I created a fabric collage using a sweet image from one of the Paper Whimsy archive newsletters. I inserted the fabric collage once it was complete into a shabby box (that my husband created) that had been painted a shabby/creamy white.
Next, I added antique lace around the outside edge of the box and embellished with mother of pearl buttons. Inside the box, little buttons, mini glass ornaments, and silver snowflakes were all added as embellishments. The final touch was a dusting of mica chips on the collage and bottom ledge of the box.
I hope you enjoy this new creation – even though winter is a few months away!
Have a wonderful weekend!
This is gorgeous! I need to get busy and use up a bunch of my lace and doily stash! Your work is always so beautiful!

So beautiful, Nancy! I’ve always loved this image, and you did such a wonderful job with it–
I just love this…and the image is perfect. A good way to use lace and doilies…I’ve been hoarding mine tooooo much. I think your weather is way cooler than mine, but I’m not ready for snowflakes (real ones anyway) just yet.
What a beautiful collage! I’m so fascinated with your wonderful work!

It’s not to early to think Christmas, I really need to get busy myself. These boxes are so pretty, someone is going to be very lucky!
Your muse and you have done a divine winter scene with just the perfect touches. This is pure bliss dear…
It’s gorgeous Nancy and I especially love that touch of pink!!! But I must say I am NOT looking forward to winter…
How lovely, Nancy! By removing the sweet pink ornaments (or not!), your darling addition to Christmas decor also serves as a sweet “winter” piece for the period after Christmas decorations have been (sadly) put away, and spring seems as if it will never arrive. xoxo
