{Tricky Treat Bags & Tags}

October 22, 2011

As seen on the Paper Whimsy Inspire Blog:

Isn’t Halloween all about the candy? As a child, we would go all through our neighborhood for several hours collecting goodies. I can remember coming home after Trick or Treating and dumping our loot out on the living room floor. We would group our candy into piles by brand or my least favorite. My Mom always wanted the “Mary Jane’s” and today those are hard to find.

These little treat bags are sure to please the ghouls and goblins in your life. Or fill them with goodies to take to co-workers.

Owl Treat Bags
Supplies:
Digi Sheet 280
Paper Doilies
Mini Fasteners
White Crepe Paper
Cello Bags

Technique:
Cut out Digi Sheet 280 tags and distress edges with ink. Cut (or paper punch) owl circles. Cut a strip of pattern from Digi Sheet and distress all sides. Attach to tag using double sided tape and mini fasteners. Place owl image on top using a pop dot. Gather up a piece of crepe paper 2.5 times the width of the tag. Run a gathering stitch with machine or hand pleat using a glue gun. Attach to the bottom of the tag. Place lace over the bottom portion of tag with tacky glue. Add a button and paper punch leaves. Fold cello bag top over and attach a white doily folded on the edge. Punch hole and thread tag through bag and tie with ribbon. Fill with treats, toys or healthy snacks.

Pumpkin Treat Bags
Supplies:
Digi Sheet 270
Digi Sheet 271
Mini Fasteners
Antique Silver Glass Glitter
Paper Doilies
Black Ribbon
Brown Lunch Bags

Technique:
Cut two small slits in top of brown lunch bag and run black ribbon through. Tie in bow.
Cut out images from Digi Sheet 270 & 271 and distress with ink.
Mount large W image on to pattern paper. Cut two of the smaller W pennant shapes and layer on front. Glitter edges with Antique Silver Glass Glitter. Attach Pumpkin to front. Add little fasteners to center of black bats and place pop dots on back. Attach to pumpkin collage. Print out “Treats” on computer paper and cut into banner strip and glue to front.
Tuck white doilies behind pumpkin collage and adhere to front of lunch bag using double sided tape.
Fill with treats, toys or healthy snacks.

Pumpkin Tags
Supplies:
Digi Sheet 270
Digi Sheet 271
Digi Sheet 275

Card stock
Pattern Paper

(2) Cut out owls, hats, collars, and boots. Glitter edge of owl collar with silver glitter. Add sequins around the eyes of each owl face. Adhere witches hats on top of owl head. Add boots using mini brads at bottom of owl body. Place pop dots on the back of each owl (several) and adhere to pennants. Add Boo letters to belly of owl with pop dots.

{Toil & Trouble Haunted House}

October 14, 2011

I made this little “Toil and Trouble” house a few weeks ago…seemed suitable to post it with October in full force. I received the house unfinished from Marilyn Rock and had fun filling with with spooky items. The poison bottles are from friend Carol Berger’s shop What Remains and various ephemera and images were added.

Enjoying our fall here – the weather turned rainy and cool yesterday…I wanted to share some of the pretty leaves gathered from our yard (Maple trees my favorite)

The glorious Maple tree outside our bedroom window…I love it so much this time of year (until we have to rake all those leaves up!) :)

Hope you are enjoying your autumn! Happy Friday!

{Bewitched Cone}

September 30, 2011

As seen on the Paper Whimsy Inspire Blog…

The whisper of October’s falling leaves, crisp air, and colorful pumpkins everywhere…this “Bewitched Cone” is an enchanting project sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.

Supplies:
Single30b PNG
Backgrounds 02 PNG
Rusty Bell Garland
Studio Cloth
Kraft Shed
Rustic Folk Star
Rustic Pins
Black Ball Trim or lace
Black Ribbon
Black Craft Paint
Tacky Glue
Cheesecloth
Silver Sparkle

Technique:
(1) Trace large circle (I used a dinner plate) on to Studio Cloth. Cut out and cover with black craft paint. Once dry, flip and cover areas that will peek out when it is rolled into a cone.

(2) Roll circle into a cone shape. Glue areas where the cone meets and clamp to dry with clothespins or book binding clips.

(3) When cone is dry, add black lace around top edge. This can be done with a needle and thread or hot glue gun.

(4) Cut black ribbon for handle hanger and black ribbon streamers for front. Tack on with a few stitches.

(5) Print Single30b PNG (isn’t she spooky?) on to matte card stock photo paper. Cut out a piece of chipboard to match photo dimensions and collage image using Perfect Paper Adhesive or Matte Gel Medium. Set aside to dry.

(6) Coat Rustic Folk Stars with Perfect Paper Adhesive and dust with a coat of silver glitter. Glue star to center front of cone, and glue two of the stars to bamboo skewers. Tie black ribbon underneath.

(7) Print script from Backgrounds 02 PNG and roll. Attach a staple in back to secure.

(8) Cut and tea stain two pieces of cheese cloth (approximately 4.5 inches by 10 inches each). Set aside to dry.

(9) Stuff cone with kraft shred. Add photo, rolled script tube, tuck cheesecloth in front and back of cone, silver stars, and straw flowers.

(10) Dust the cone with black glitter in certain areas using tacky glue.

(11) Wrap rusty bell garland around the base of the cone. You may need to glue it at the back to hold the bells in place.

This cone will make a charming accent to your home, office, studio or to give as a gift this Halloween season. I would love to see your “Bewitched Cone” project. Can you share it with me by placing a link on the Paper Whimsy Inspire Blog?
