Sugar Lump Studios - A Sweet Smattering of Mixed Media Art

{Little Cabinet Card Journal}

February 21, 2017

Hello! I was just testing a few things a few weeks ago, and this was a little cabinet card journal I made. Not real fussy, water color paper for inserts, vintage lace, and sari ribbon with tags/wooden spools. I listed her in my Etsy shop: Sugar Lump Studios.

The past few weeks I have had little time for creation. It seems there are stages in my recovery where I will average seeing doctors, specialists, etc. twice a week for weeks…and then I get a break again for many months. Even 2.5 years post stroke recovery is an every day word. This usually results in a 2 hour (there and back) car ride as I live further from my specialty doctors now. I wouldn’t change them for the world, and feel very blessed to be under the best care.

I am thankful for the sunshine and 50 degree weather we are having in Michigan right now. I don’t think I EVER remember this in February! :-)

Now, I have a break in seeing doctor’s…so between the weather being beautiful I hope to spend more time creating again!

About Sugar Lump Studios

I am a dabbler. I love to create using all sorts of mediums...pattern papers, stamping, fabric, assemblage, collage, altered art, a never ending smattering of whatever strikes my fancy in whimsical moments. I find creating allows my soul to be fulfilled and love to spend hours in the studio.

    Dear Nancy, I can imagine, it must be so hard, with the long drive to doctors, if several times a week, but how very wonderful for you, you have had the luck of good and kind doctors, after the stroke.
    Such lovely book, with the adorable child, and the simple sweetness of old, and laces, and the bright white pages waiting for notes, I love it. Lucky you with the wonderful weather, I really wish you happy hours creating, dear friend. xoxoxo

    There was a time when it seemed I was heading into a doctor’s office way more often than I liked, but nothing
    compared to you and distance you must go. Sweet little book, and I noticed that you pictured it next to a vintage Bobbsey Twins book!

    Your journal looks beautiful Nancy. I know your ‘journey’ must continue to feel exhausting and never ending but I’m glad that you continue to progress – that is so obvious from your beautiful creations. Yes – odd temperature world wide this month. Global warming is very real. Nicola x

    Dear Nancy..
    I always enjoy coming for a visit to see what you’ve been creating. This is a sweet little journal. I love the lace and the darling little girl on the front. You’re so creative. I’m happy to hear that you are well enough now to lengthen your time between Dr visits. That must be so encouraging! Thank you so much for coming to say hello… Your comments are always a joy to read! I am an Ohio girl born and raised and though I now live in Az, Ohio will forever be my true home. Enjoy your lovely weather this weekend!

    Hugs and blessings,
    Tamara
