Spider Headband Paper Craft

October 11, 2021

My Grandson Malcolm (26 months) loves coloring and has since he was about 15 months old. I wanted to introduce little “craft” type projects that were not to complicated. Some of it I could make up ahead, or he could be doing something else while it was drying.

Since we are near Halloween, I figure he would have fun with this super simple Spider Headband idea that I found on Pinterest. It came from: https://www.fantasticfunandlearning.com/s-is-for-spider-spider-headband-craft.html

I cut black cardstock into 2 pieces of 2.5 inche wide bands. I stapled one portion together then placed it on his head to see how big the head band needed to be. Once I knew the dimension I stapled the other portion so it was a giant circle headband.

Then I glued on random eyes using Fabric Tac and let that set up. While it was drying for a bit, I let Malcolm color on the black cardstock legs with crayons to add his own personal touch. Those were just scraps from the black cardstock sheet that I cut into strips (about 1.5 inches) and scored them randomly so they could fold and look “springy”.

I attached the legs on the headband using Fabric tac and then placed clothespins on the headband and leg while it dried. I have 4 legs on each side of headband. Once it was all set up and dry, removed the clothespins and let the silliness begin!

October Eve Handmade Card

October 9, 2021

Sharing this little handmade card with you this evening. It was originally an ICAD (3 x 5) that I attached to a card background. The card was a piece of black cardstock I cut to 5.5 x 6.5 inches, and then I layered two pieces of pattern papers overlapping.

Fall has been very warm here in Michigan, but still many rainy days. I wish it could last a few more months as I know winter is coming. Enjoy your Saturday!

‘Tis Near Halloween Gothic Arch

October 1, 2021

Happy October!

Sneaking in a Halloween themed Gothic Arch while listening to my grandson chatter himself to sleep at nap time. He has been sick this week. He seems better today (the chattering) and I am looking forward to this month and watching him learn about the season. Now, if I can just stay consistent with creations and creative time!

I love this time of year and wish autumn lasted several months instead of weeks!

{Tricky Treat Bags & Tags}

October 22, 2011

As seen on the Paper Whimsy Inspire Blog:

Isn’t Halloween all about the candy? As a child, we would go all through our neighborhood for several hours collecting goodies. I can remember coming home after Trick or Treating and dumping our loot out on the living room floor. We would group our candy into piles by brand or my least favorite. My Mom always wanted the “Mary Jane’s” and today those are hard to find.

These little treat bags are sure to please the ghouls and goblins in your life. Or fill them with goodies to take to co-workers.

Attach to tag using double sided tape and mini fasteners. Place owl image on top using a pop dot. Gather up a piece of crepe paper 2.5 times the width of the tag. Run a gathering stitch with machine or hand pleat using a glue gun. Attach to the bottom of the tag. Place lace over the bottom portion of tag with tacky glue. Add a button and paper punch leaves. Fold cello bag top over and attach a white doily folded on the edge. Punch hole and thread tag through bag and tie with ribbon. Fill with treats, toys or healthy snacks.
