Today, I am sharing these little pockets I made that can be tucked into journals. I created them by using old vintage sheet music that was cut to various sizes and folded in half. Using my sewing machine I stitched the sides and bottom. A 1/2 circle was punched at the top, and little bits of ephemera and a tag tucked inside. I then decorated the front with various digital graphic printouts and rubber stamps. The pockets could then be glued into your journal. Very fun to create!
Hello and Happy August!
This little spread is made in my Moleskine Journal. I have used a variety of paints, collage images, vintage music sheets and metallic markers. I covered the pages first with a parchment color craft paint. Once that was dry, I started adding the sheet music strips. I then went back and added the collage images (postcard, postage stamps, butterflies, forget-me-knots, and pretty girl.)
Once the collage items were dry, I added the metallic marker dots along the edges of the pages. The lyrics, were then typed up in Microsoft Word and printed, cut into strips and added to the spread. Through this whole process, I am using Liquidtex “Matte” Matte Gel Medium.
I added this little spread to my Traveler’s Notebook the other day. Now, all I need to do is write inside.
The prints were from Etsy and all done in blue. I thought it was so beautiful online. Most of the afternoon was spent cutting them out once they were printed. However, there are PLENTY of images to make many more things with which I love.
This journal spread was made in my Moleskine art journal. The colors are more of a summery blue, perhaps that is what I was feeling or longing for at the moment. I love to get to the Great Lakes each summer and this year sadly it has not happened.
The lyrics are Loreena McKennitt. I used paints, pattern papers, Liquidtex Matte Gel Medium, collage images (girl and butterflies), washi tape and old postage stamp on this piece. The lyrics were printed in word and hand cut and laid out on the pages. That is probably the most tedious portion of the whole process!
