{Simply Neutrals #37 – Shabby Spool Shrine}

March 13, 2018

I am joining Wen for Simply Neutrals Tuesday. Please visit her blog and see Wen’s and see many other artists beautiful posts as well: appleapricot.blogspot.com

I made this little spool shrine last year and never was able to get it photographed and posted. The little box was painted with white craft paint inside and out. Once dry, I added some sheet music to the back. A very simple fabric collage was also added in the center. Next, little vintage spools had little pieces of lace attached to them. I also added a little bit of song lyrics on the inside.

Still waiting for spring (it was trying to snow this morning), but the sun is different so I know it is coming soon!

{Simply Neutrals #36 – Spring Peat Pots}

March 5, 2018

I am joining Wen for Simply Neutrals Tuesday. Please visit her blog and see Wen’s and see many other artists beautiful posts as well: appleapricot.blogspot.com

This week I am sharing these little peat pots I made to put at my booth. Ironically, the pots have been shabby painted for years and I had them in my “art stash” and they moved with me three times!  I really was tired of lugging them and not making something with them (I have discovered that less really is more)!

I needed it to be simple, and just added little strips of vintage dictionary pages and music to the front, and then added little eggs and numbers as well. The insides have vintage sheet music that I cut into strips, crumpled really good in my hands and put inside the pots. The sides were pierced at the top, and black wire was added.

I took them to my booth this morning, found out I had not priced them and had nothing to do it with so back home they came. Sigh!

Hope you can visit the many lovely ladies that participate each week on Simply Neutrals Tuesday!

{Simply Neutrals #34}

February 19, 2018

I was able to have some creative time this past weekend. It is a difficult thing to find as of late, so I am grateful when and if it does happen. These little chipboard tags were washed with white paint, and layers of paper collage and laces were applied on top.

I also had fun with Miss Adelaide. This antique dress yoke I found among my auction lots from October.
The package was marked “lace trim” when indeed it was a fully intact top to a woman’s dress from days gone by.
It really is beautiful.

Miss Adelaide also was able to “borrow” a felt hat that did not sell in my booth. I think she looks smashing in it. Don’t you?

{Simply Neutrals #32 – Ode to the Amethyst}

February 5, 2018

Today, February 6th I am celebrating my 54th birthday!

I am joining Simply Neutrals Tuesday today. You can learn more about it on Wen’s blog…Simply Neutrals Tuesday

For Simply Neutrals Tuesday, I will be sharing some of my favorite Amethyst jewelry pieces that I have been given over the years. Amethyst is the birthstone for February. I love anything purple and feel lucky that the birth flower (violet) and stone for February are just that!

This Amethyst bar pin belonged to my Paternal Grandmother. It is made from yellow and rose gold. She did not have fancy things growing up, so it is something I assume she cherished very much.

This little heart necklace and bracelet are costume jewelry that was given to me on my 14th birthday. I remember how exciting it was to open them before school that morning and wearing them that day. The memories of wearing this during my teen years bring back many happy memories.

In recent years, a pretty Amethyst ring that I was given for my birthday. If you have not noticed yet, I also collect hearts. So, anything purple, amethyst or hearts is a safe bet with me! :-)

A little pair of sweet earrings that were given recently. I love all colors and clarity of amethysts (light to dark).

I hope you have enjoyed my little peek at some of my special jewelry and memories that come with it.
